WHAT YOU CAN DO

Bed bugs can be very difficult to eradicate and it is recommended to purchase at least two regular treatments.  We have the best results when two regular treatments and both add-on's are purchased and the preparations have been done to a sufficient degree. Preparations are problematic as it is a lot of work and often gets neglected.  Bed bugs are often within close proximity to where you sleep and usually located on the mattress, box spring, or bed frame (they like to nest in seams, tears, wooden cracks and crevices for example).  Leave "no stone unturned" when it comes to preparations as even a small detail that

gets overlooked could become an ongoing problem.  Our philosophy is to use everything at our disposal to deal with the problem.  The following list are helpful things you can do right away:

  • Read the bed bug preparation sheet and start preparing while you wait for your scheduled appointment.
  • Launder your materials including; bedding and linens, clothing, curtains, backpacks, stuffed toys, etc.  (heat from a conventional dryer will kill all life stages of bedbugs)
  • Go through your personal belongings; anything that can't be laundered should be thoroughly checked for signs of bedbugs
  • Use a vacuum along seams of mattress and box springs as well as cracks and crevices around your bed(s).  Be sure to dispose of vacuum contents.
  • Purchase bed bug mattress encasements for both mattresses and box springs
  • Purchase climb up interceptors or bed bug moats for your bed frame legs.  Double sided tape placed around bed frame legs is another option.

Heat treatments are a pesticide free option to kill bed bugs.  We currently do not offer heat treatments.  In some situations bed bugs can infest furniture and it may be advisable to dispose of the particular item.  Your Pest Control Technician will give you advice based on your particular situation.
